Do I have to wear a helmet when riding on the Véloroute?
In New Brunswick, wearing a bicycle helmet is not only a safety issue, it is required by law! It is therefore forbidden to ride without a safety helmet on the Véloroute.
Is the cycle route accessible year-round?
The VPA is not accessible to cyclists during the winter months. However, for winter bikers (fatbike), some trails are developped by different outdoor recreation centres in the region.
Is it possible to travel on the Véloroute other than by bicycle?
It is allowed to walk or ride an electrically-assisted bike on off-road trails. All other motorized vehicles are prohibited.
What is the difficulty level of the Véloroute de la Péninsule acadienne?
The VPA's off-road circuits were built on the old Canadian National tracks, so the course is easy. It is ideal for beginners or for a family outing! Some road courses have slightly more slopes, but typically, the terrain is flat.
Do you offer a luggage or bicycle transportation services?
The VPA does not offer luggage or bicycle transportation services. Check with your accommodation, they may be able to help you. We hope that this type of service will be offered in the near future.
How should I prepare my bike trek?
To get the most out of your bike trips, start the season with a maintenance visit to a retailer near you. Before each ride, check the pressure and wear of your tires. The recommended pressure is always written on the side of the tire. Always carry a spare inner tube, tire changer, pump, and wrenches.
Where are the visitor information centers located?
There are ten visitor information centers for visitors in the Acadian Peninsula. For a complete list, you can consult the Acadian Peninsula Touristim Guide.
What is prohibited on the Véloroute?
- Driving while impaired.
- Walking farm animals.
- Dispose of waste elsewhere than in public bins.
- Circulate with headphones over your ears.
- Perpetrate action that could damage the equipment.
- Climb on buildings or furniture.
- Selling and soliciting.
- Hold a major event without authorization.
- Install commercial posters.
- Motorcycles, road vehicles, heavy and agricultural machinery are strictly prohibited on the cycle route. All-terrain vehicles (ATV) are only allowed to travel on shared sections that are clearly identified.
